Samsung Appliance Repair Las Cruces helps make ice

Is your fridge in need of some basic appliance repair? An ice maker may not be the most important feature your refrigerator has to offer, but it is a convenience most people take for granted. Like any other appliance, an ice maker can break down. If you find yourself battling a faulty device, the following troubleshooting insight may save you a phone call to your local Samsung appliance repair company.

Bad Taste

If you’ve noticed, the ice coming from your refrigerator has a particular taste or smell to it, a quick inspection of the ice bin may provide you with answers. More than likely, the bin has been contaminated by spilled food. Thoroughly washing and rinsing the bin should remove the taste and smell from your ice. In cases where cleaning the bin does not correct the problem, clean the water filter. If the filter is stained, replacing it is your best bet.

Freezer’s Temperature is too high might require appliance repair

When the appliance is not producing ice, check the temperature of the freezer. Your ice maker will not work correctly if the temperature reads above 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Try resetting the temperature so it is between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit. If you notice the temp is not getting colder, check to see if the condenser coil is clean and whether or not the condenser fan is functioning. A call to a repair company may be necessary if the fan is no longer operating.

Faulty door switch

If the door switch on your freezer is defective, the ice maker may function improperly. The switch on the door has two purposes. The first is to turn the freezer light on, and the second is to turn off the ice dispenser. In situations where the switch is faulty and the ice dispenser does not turn on, you will need to replace the switch.

Ice maker switch

Your ice maker is equipped with an on and off switch. Unfortunately, the switch is periodically turned off on accident. Check to make sure the switch is in the on position. In cases where the switch is on, but your ice maker is still malfunctioning, you will most likely need a replacement switch.

Ice Level Sensor

Your refrigerator has an ice level control board. This control board operates an infrared light beam that senses the amount of ice in your ice bucket. When the ice reaches a certain point, the light is disrupted, and the ice maker turns off. If the ice level control board is functioning incorrectly, it will cause the infrared light to stop working, which in turn, stops your ice maker from producing ice.

5 Reasons Why Your Refrigerator Might Be Too Warm – Appliance Repair

Your refrigerator’s job is to keep food cold and fresh for an extended period of time. You count on the fridge to keep your milk from spoiling, your butter from melting, and your food from going off too quickly. Fridges are an invaluable part of modern life. So irt’s pretty inconvenient when your refrigerator fails at keeping your food cold enough to stay fresh.

You may notice that your cold items aren’t cold enough or that food is spoiling too quickly. These are indications that your fridge is not maintaining a temperature close enough to freezing to maintain your groceries. Today, we’re here to show you the five most common reasons why a fridge might be too warm and how to fix them.

1) The Fridge is Too Empty

A refrigerator isn’t actually designed to maintain a near-freezing temperature while standing completely empty. You may even have noticed that completely empty fridges tend to feel a little warm, while packed fridges are more likely to feel cold when you stick your hand inside.

This is because the food contributes to the cooling power by becoming their own cold-batteries. Much like ice in a cooler. A fridge without enough food can’t stay cold enough.

Solution: More Food or Jugs of Water

For most people, the best option is to stock up your fridge with foods and drinks you like. A case of sodas or a stock of meat and vegetables will do the trick. But if you don’t want to stock more food, a two to four-gallon jugs of water will also help keep the inside of your fridge at the optimal temperature.

2) The Freezer-to-Fridge Vent is Blocked

Cold in your fridge comes from the freezer compartment. The condenser coils give off cold from the coolant inside, which is channeled into the freezer compartment, then blown into the fridge compartment through a vent in-between. However, if that vent is blocked, the cold air can’t get through. Your freezer will stay super cold and your fridge will slowly get warmer.

To know if this is your problem, first find the vent, then determine if any large or boxed items are blocking it from either side.

Solution: Clear Food Away from the Vent to avoid appliance repair

If your vents are blocked, the natural solution is simply to clear them. Rearrange your fridge or freezer so that the vent is no longer blocked. You may need to rethink how you stock your fridge.

3) The Temperature Dial was Bumped – Appliance Repair

It’s also not out of the question that the fridge is functioning exactly as it’s supposed to, but that the temperature dial that tells it how to perform has been adjusted. Most of the time, this is an accident. Someone stocking the fridge accidentally bumps the dial but no one notices until the milk spoils early.

Solution: Lower the Set Fridge Temperature

A simple problem is solved with an equally simple answer. Simply check the dial and adjust it down. If this fixes your fridge problem within about two hours, then a bumped dial was the issue all along.

4) The Condenser Coils are Dusty

If it’s not the amount of food stocked, the vent, or the temperature dial, then the problem is most likely the condenser coils. These are either located below or behind your fridge. If you are comfortable doing so, open the panel and take a look at your coils. If they are dusty, that dust is actually keeping the coolant from cooling the fridge.

Solution: Clean the Coils or Call for Expert Service

If you are comfortable, you can use a towel to wipe the dust off your coolant coils. If you are not comfortable opening up your fridge, now is the time to contact a repair expert to take care of internal fridge repairs.

5) An Internal Electrical Component Has Failed – Appliance Repair

When all other troubleshooting fails, the answer must be an electrical problem inside the fridge. It may be a broken fan, temperature sensor, defrost timer, or something deeper.

Solution: Replace the Component or Call for Expert Service

If you can identify the problem, you can take on careful DIY replacement of the broken part. Be sure to closely follow a repair guide and obey all safety precautions to avoid the risk of a dangerous electric shock. Otherwise, call an appliance repair expert to diagnose and repair your refrigerator and get it running to satisfaction once again.
