Air Conditioner Repair: Proper Maintenance after a Repair
Air Conditioner Repair

Keeping an air conditioner in great condition does not mean maintenance must be related to the unit. It is possible to maintain a unit in many other ways, and this is especially crucial after utilizing professional air conditioner repair.

Keep Your Thermostat as High as Possible

While it is more than understandable that you want to be comfortable inside your home, setting your thermostat extremely low is only going to cost a lot of money and make you feel a little bit better. Ideally, you should find a temperature that makes you feel comfortable, and then use this as your thermostat temperature whenever it gets excessively warm inside. It is an excellent way to prevent your air conditioner from getting overworked to achieve a lower temperature than necessary.

Renovate Your Roof with Air Conditioning in Mind

Thinking of a home as a cohesive unit is not a bad idea, especially when there are so many factors that determine how much money you spend on routine maintenance, repairs, and utilities. In this case, going through roofing repairs or renovations means you have an opportunity to preserve your air conditioner. Choosing roof shingles that are light in color will reflect the heat from the sun better than dark colors, which in turn will keep your home cooler and reduce the need to use your air conditioner.

Block Out Sunlight to Prevent Excessive Usage of Your Air Conditioner

Sunlight can be a major problem for homes with a lot of windows, and this is because sunlight coming in will bring up the temperature inside. While natural light can be quite nice, on extremely hot days, you can benefit from drapes, blinds, or blackout curtains to prevent sunlight from making it excessively warm.

Appliance Repair Tips: Don’t Forget to Properly Clean Your Dishwasher and Washing Machine
Samsung Appliance Repair

When it comes to appliance cleaning, the focus usually falls on the stove and refrigerator, leaving the dishwasher and washing machine to fend for themselves. Unfortunately, doing so can have an ill effect on the performance of both machines. Provided below are 2 methods that will help you clean both appliances without breaking into a sweat

Dishwasher

Like all the major appliances in your home, your dishwasher needs a good cleaning. Food particles from dirty plates and bowls can accumulate on the bottom of your dishwasher’s tub and around the door gasket if you neglect to clean the appliance. A build-up of debris can cause your dishwasher to acquire an unsavory smell that can quickly invade your entire kitchen. Luckily, performing a few easy cleaning techniques can prevent that from happening.

  • Using an old toothbrush and warm soapy water, thoroughly scrub any food away that is stuck to the dishwasher’s door gasket. Be sure to remove all loosened debris off the door seal with a wet cloth before moving on to the next step.

  • Extract the bottom rack from your appliance and take a look at your dishwasher’s drain. Check for any foreign objects that could end up clogging the drain or damaging the pump. Appliance repair technicians often find broken glass and bits of bones, so keep an eye out and be careful when wiping around the area.

  • Running a wash cycle with only a cup of white vinegar placed on the top rack is a great way to get rid of food particles from the tub while also eliminating any unpleasant odors. If you want to skip the vinegar, you can sprinkle a cup of baking soda on the bottom of your appliance’s tub and run a wash cycle.

Washing Machine

Cleaning your top loading washing machine should definitely be on your to-do list. Fortunately, the process of sanitizing and freshening up your washer is quite simple and doesn’t take much time at all.

  • The only two ingredients you’ll need is white vinegar and baking soda. The vinegar removes any mold or mildew and its acidity helps get rid of soap scum build-up. The baking soda also eradicates soap scum, and it has the added benefit of deodorizing the machine.

  • Begin the process by setting your washing machine to its largest wash cycle with hot water. There should be no clothing in the appliance during this cleaning procedure. Next, allow the tub to fill and then pour in 3 cups of vinegar. Before adding the baking soda, let the washer agitate for a minute or two, so the vinegar can mix into the water. Now add the baking soda and run the machine for a few minutes.

  • At this point, stop the wash cycle and leave the mixture sitting in the appliance for an hour. While you’re waiting, dip a clean cloth in the hot water and clean off the top of your washer.

  • Once the hour has passed, resume the wash cycle and allow the water to completely drain from your machine. When all the water is gone your appliance should smell fresh and look sparkling clean.

If you’ve noticed a decline in the performance of one of your appliances, please contact us at SoBellas Appliance Repair, and we’ll be happy to help with all your Samsung Appliance repair issues.

5 Advantages of Getting a Home A/C Repair Service: From Better Sleep to Better Romance
Home AC Repair Service

Nowadays, an air conditioner has almost become a basic necessity in any home, along with a heater.  We’re used to living in a climate-controlled environment in summer as well as winter.  However, keep in mind that an air-conditioner is not just something that makes you feel cool and comfortable; it can also be good for your health.  Read on for five advantages of getting a home AC repair service.

  1. Better sleep.  Regulating your body temperature can make sure that you get a better night’s sleep.  It’s a fact that most people find it easier to go to sleep and stay asleep when the temperature is a little cooler.  When it’s hot, you tend to get sticky and wake up from time to time.  Some people even like to get the AC running at full blast and use a comforter to get that cozy feeling when they sleep.
  2. Better concentration.  If you’re working at home, temperature control will help you to concentrate better on your work.  When you’re physically comfortable, you’re mentally comfortable as well.  So you’re likely to come up with better ideas and you’ll also be able to put them into action.
  3. Better work outs.  If you’re trying to work out at home, you’re not going to want to even get started if the weather is hot and muggy.  However, if you get air conditioning, you’ll be motivated to start working out.  You’ll also be able to work out more and longer.  Plus, your body will sweat less which means less dehydration.  Air conditioning is definitely a must if you plan to work out at home.
  4. Better cooking.  Have you ever tried to cook without air conditioning?  If so, you must have wondered how people ever cooked before temperature control became a reality.  Given that cooking involves using a stove and an oven, it results in the production of heat.  No wonder women have often referred to it as “slaving over a hot stove!”  Now, you don’t need to slave anymore, as long as you have good air conditioning which you can turn up before you start cooking.
  5. Better romance.  Everyone knows that candlelight is romantic.  But have you ever tried lighting a bunch of candles at the same time?  If so, you know that it can make a room seriously hot, which is not very romantic.  Turn your AC up, light the candles and enjoy a romantic evening with your significant other.

So if you’ve been putting off your AC maintenance or repair, these are five good reasons to make sure it gets done right away.  Call us for the best AC maintenance, repair and replacement services.

SoBellas Refrigerator Repair Staff’s 3 Energy Saving Tips for Summer
Refrigerator Repair

In no time at all, Texans will be faced with the hot days of summer. So before that happens, our refrigerator repair staff wanted to share three of their energy saving tips with you and other families. Each tip is suitable for use regardless of which refrigerator brand you and other residents may have on hand.

1.) Maintain the Ideal Temperature

In our refrigerator repair staff’s opinion, one of the easiest ways to save energy, and money, is to set your fridge at the ideal temperature. In most instances, that perfect temperature range runs from 35 Degrees Fahrenheit to 38 Degrees Fahrenheit. However, you may want to check the owner’s manual that came with your refrigerator to be sure.

2.) Check the Seals & Condenser Coils

Having our refrigerator repair staff check your unit’s seals and condenser coils at the start of the season can be helpful too. After all, broken seals and dirty condenser coils are two chief reasons why refrigerators lose energy during hot, Texas summers. Our refrigerator repair pros can take care of those two issues and more during routine service calls.

3.) Be Fridge Content Smart

Another reason why refrigerators lose energy during the summer months has to do with its contents. Thus, it is important to make sure that you keep the fridge full and position its contents away from the interior walls too. Doing so will help to keep the air inside of the fridge circulating and at the proper temperature. In addition, never put hot food into the fridge. Not only is it a food safety hazard, it can cause your fridge to work double time as well.

For more information about these and other energy saving measures, please contact our refrigerator repair professionals at (800) 617-6235. If you call now, we can help ensure that your Texas home’s appliances will be safe, energy efficient and ready for all of the warm days ahead.

3 Troubleshooting Tips to Remember When You Inspect Your Air Conditioner
Air Conditioner Repair

Air Conditioner Repair

While air conditioners provide homes with the comfort of cool air during hot days, they also have a tendency to break down at the most inconvenient times. Troubleshooting your appliance gives you a better understanding of why your unit is malfunctioning and whether or not a phone call to your local air conditioner repair company is necessary. Below are 3 tips to keep in mind while you are troubleshooting your air conditioner.

Leaking Refrigerant

A refrigerant leak is not the most obvious air conditioning defect, but if you pay close attention to your unit’s performance, it is possible to spot the malfunction. Ice buildup around your supply line is a clue your unit is suffering form a leak, unfortunately, it can also point to other issues, so your best course of action is to turn your unit off and call a repair company. Another sign that can help you diagnose a refrigerant leak is your air conditioner’s inability to produce cool air. If you’ve turned your unit on and you’ve set the temperature accordingly, and you notice the air coming from the vents does not cool down after 5 minutes, you could be facing a refrigerant leak. When this happens calling a repair company is the safest way for you to determine if you have a leak.

Outdoor Unit Won’t Stop Running

If your outside unit won’t shut down, an infestation of creepy crawlers may have damaged your air conditioner. The type of bugs that are often the culprit in these situations are ants. On a mission for a food source, ants will take up residence in your outside unit. Though, these tiny pests may not seem like they can do significant damage, the opposite is true. Their ability to chew through the tubing and foam housed in your air conditioner can corrupt your units integrity and result in the appliance breaking down. Leaving ant bait around the outside of your unit can attract the bugs and eradicate them from your air conditioner. Once the ants are gone you can assess the amount of destruction done to your appliance and decide whether or not you need to call a professional technician.

Poorly Placed Thermostat

If you’ve noticed you’re air conditioner is turning off before your home is completely cooled, a common error that can occur is the placement of your homes thermostat. Your thermostat regulates the temperature inside your house and signals your air conditioner to turn on or off. Placing the thermostat close to a vent can hinder this process. When cool air is blowing directly on your thermostat, the temperature it reads will not represent the actual temperature of your home. Instead, your thermostat will determine your home is cooler than it is and turn your unit off prematurely. To avoid this issue, your thermostat should be installed in an area that represents the average temperature of your home.

If you have a question about your air conditioner or your unit is in need of repair, please contact us at SoBellas Home Services, where we strive to provide you and your appliance with the best care possible.

Troubleshooting Tips That Can Help You Diagnose an Inadequate Refrigerator Temperature

3 Troubleshooting Tips That Can Help You Diagnose an Inadequate Refrigerator Temperature
Refrigerator Repair

If upon opening your refrigerator this morning, you discovered a lack of cool air, you’re most likely dealing with a temperature malfunction and need refrigerator repair. While nobody enjoys troubleshooting one of their appliances, finding the reason behind the defect can help you save your food and your refrigerator. Listed below are 3 common issues that can cause your appliance to warm up instead of cool down.

Temperature Control

When you notice your refrigerator or freezer isn’t as cold as you would like, the first function you should check is the temperature control. On most refrigerators, the temperature control is a simple system that permits more or less cool air to flow between the freezer and the refrigerator by opening and closing the vents in the appliance. In cases where a refrigerator’s temperature control is malfunctioning, corroded wiring is often the cause. Removing the control dial from the appliance’s interior wall and inspecting the wiring and the terminals can help you determine if there is any corrosion present. If there is, the damaged parts will need to be replaced.

Airflow Restriction

The vents that are located between your freezer and refrigerator have the potential to become blocked by ice or over-packing. Unfortunately, when those vents are clogged, the airflow in your fridge becomes restricted, and that’s when you are likely to notice your appliance it is not maintaining a cool enough temperature. Luckily, this problem is easily fixed by locating the vents and determining if ice build-up or food storage is the issue. If overcrowding is the cause, simply rearrange or remove the objects that are clogging the vents. On the other hand, if ice is the culprit, defrosting your freezer to rid it of ice obstruction should open your vents and allow cool air to pass freely through them.

Evaporator Fan

The cool air coming into your refrigerator and freezer is circulated by an evaporator fan. If the fan is malfunctioning, your appliance will not sustain a proper temperature. The fan is usually located in the back of the freezer. You can inspect the part by removing the rear panel that covers it. If you notice the movement of the blades is not smooth, an object may be obstructing their path, or the motor that causes the fan to rotate is no longer functioning correctly. When you suspect your evaporator fan is faulty, it is best to call a refrigerator repair company, so you can receive a trained professional’s opinion.

If you are concerned your refrigerator is no longer sustaining an adequate temperature, please contact us at SoBellas Appliance Repair. We offer same day service and have aided over 35,000 customers in the last 37 years.

Home AC repair service companies often receive calls from people concerned that their properties’ systems need more coolant. But should they really be worried about that? In our experience, there are times when home air conditioners need to be recharged. However, it doesn’t happen as often as many people think.

In general, the only time systems need to be recharged by our home air conditioning repair service team is after a breakdown. Why? During breakdowns, cooling systems may spring leaks. When they do, it is possible to lose enough coolant to require a recharge. In those cases, the damaged components will obviously have to be repaired or replaced. Afterward, home AC repair service technicians can go ahead and top off coolant levels.

If there are no leaks, chances are the coolant levels are just fine. Consequently, the refrigerated air condition systems’ failures will likely be attributed to other, easily corrected problems. So, how does a home or business owner know which problems require a charge? In our experience there are several, key signs and symptoms to watch out for before making a call.

For instance, what is the temperature of the air coming out of the building’s ventilation system? And how long does it take that air to bring the building’s interior to the right temperature? If the air is unusually warm and the building never seems to reach or hold temperature, there may be one or more system leaks present. The only way to confirm the existence of one or a multitude of system breaches is to hire a company that provides home AC repair service.

Home AC repair service techs can easily test a property owners’ coolant loss theory and issue recommendations on how to proceed. To find out how, please contact SoBellas Home Services. We’re conveniently located in El Paso, San Antonio and Las Cruces and offer emergency, coolant related services.

Reduce Your Utility Bills by Investing in Routine Heater Repair

Maintaining the appliances in your home is an essential part of being a homeowner, but it does not have to be a daunting task. It is perfectly fine to take matters into your own hands for maintaining certain appliances, but there are also times in which you should utilize professional and routine heater repair to solve any problems and prevent any from arising.

Keep It Working at Max Efficiency

One of the most important parts of heater maintenance and repair is the fact that not keeping it maintained only leads to spending more money on your utilities. Attempting to warm up your home with a dirty air filter and obstructed ducts will be time-consuming, challenging, and expensive, but you can prevent this from happening by having a professional come by once a year for a thorough inspection.

Replace Old or Broken Parts

As a heater ages, there will likely be parts that are completely broken or just do not work as efficiently as they did when they were brand new, and this is why is important to invest in replacing these parts.

From fan blades and flame sensors to gaskets and filters, there are various parts that need to be inspected by a knowledgeable individual and then replaced if necessary. Professional heater repair is what you need, which will in turn give you the peace of mind knowing that your heater is working properly.

Professional Quality

Although you may be able to follow directions carefully, there are simply more mistakes that a homeowner can make when attempting to repair their heater compared to a professional. It is not worth trying to do your own repair as you could worsen the problem.

If you have any questions about heater repair, contact us today.

Appliance Repair Dishwasher Maintenance Tips to Keep the Grime Off Your Dinner Plates

Samsung Appliance Repair and the dirty dishwasher.

Dirty dishwashers

Are your supposedly clean plates coming out of your dishwasher grimy or covered in dry food or are you finding puddles of water on your floor. Before jumping to the conclusion that your dishwasher is in need of an appliance repair company, take the time to perform these simple dishwasher maintenance tips. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised when you’re able to solve the problem on your own.

  • If you’ve noticed water leaking onto the floor from your dishwasher, you may be dealing with two very common issues. A dishwasher that is not level is likely to be the problem. Luckily, leveling the appliance is not a complicated task. By simply adjusting the dishwashers front legs, you can stop further leakage from occurring. If your appliance is level and you continue to find water on your floor, check the dishwasher’s door gasket. If the gasket is cracked or dried food is stuck to it, your appliance may not be closing properly. You should clean the gasket regularly, to ensure your dishwasher’s door seals tightly. If you do find cracks in the door gasket, you will need to replace it.
  • A dishwasher’s filtration system needs to be cleaned on a regular basis. Debris from plates that haven’t been rinsed get caught in the filter, and prevent the appliance from performing properly. If you are unsure of where the filter is located, your dishwasher’s manual will provide you with the correct information. Cleaning and inspecting the filter is easy. Once you’ve removed it, look closely at the filter to see if you can find any holes. If you do spot holes, you may need to replace the filter. To clean the filter, simply hold it under running water.
  • Spray arms dispense water during the wash cycle. The small holes located on the arms can easily become clogged by debris from food. Check the holes often for any blockages. If you find an obstruction, remove it from the hole to ensure your dishwasher can operate correctly.
  • Wiping down the interior of your appliance with liquid dishwashing soap and water once a month can help rid the appliance of debris and soap scum build-up. You can also run your dishwasher on a normal cycle with no detergent and two cups of vinegar on the lower rack to give it an intensive cleaning.

Unfortunately, the need for professional dishwasher repair cannot always be prevented. If you’ve performed all necessary maintenance and your appliance is still uncooperative, please contact us at SoBellas Appliance Repair. We offer same day services and have helped over 35,000 customers in the last 37 years.

The Advantages of Professional Appliance Repair

Samsung Appliance Repair with SoBellas, what the advantage?

appliance repair

Samsung Appliance Repair

Many people prefer to “do-it-themselves” when they are faced with what appears to be a seemingly simple appliance problem. However, in most cases, it is still much more beneficial to seek professional help instead of a do-it-yourself approach, for several important reasons:

  1. Safety. The number one concern for undertaking any sort of hands-on project is safety. Many amateurs are not well-versed in safety training and the potential hazards of repair. As a result, many people may accidentally injure themselves through ways like electrical shock, burns, muscle straining or pulling, or the falling of heavy objects. Professionals are specifically brought up through years of education and experience to know how to avoid such dangers. It’s never worth the pain and possible medical bills of doing something yourself over your safety.
  2. Quality. Unless you yourself are an expert in repairing and maintaining appliances, it’s unlikely that you can do a better job of fixing a refrigerator or washing machine than the guys at SoBellas San Antonio Appliance Repair. Even if you understand and follow detailed, step-by-step instructions from a manual on how to fix a broken dryer, there are endless subtleties and possibilities that could occur that the untrained amateur has no way of detecting. A certain loosened screw, an opening too large – it’s very difficult to tell if something is considered normal or not, when you have not been as extensively trained in such matters as has a professional.
  3. Time. If you enjoy fixing things yourself, then perhaps these types of projects aren’t so bad for you. However, it’s undeniable that repair always involves a huge time commitment – meaning hours spent rereading instructions from a manual, gathering and possibly having to buy the right tools, instead of focusing on other matters that might hold greater priority, like your current job or family. Professionals are trained to recognize the problem, have the tools immediately on hand, and get the job done fast and efficiently, leaving you with little-to-no stress and more time for leisure activities like that one episode of CSI you so watched to watch.
  4. Money. The reason many people prefer to do-it-themselves instead of seek professional help at first is fear of handing over their wallet. But in the end, cost-benefit analyses show that seeking professionals is likely to save money. For instance, if you try to repair an appliance but do a poor job of it, it is likely to create further, more major problems that an amateur cannot fix. Consequently, the costs would be even more expensive to repair than it would’ve been in the first place. Furthermore, even if the product is fixed, the solution may only be temporary; the problem may be indicative of a more serious, long-term defect with your appliance. Professional repairmen are dedicated to helping maintain your appliance in its top shape, and many offer warranties in case of any dissatisfaction with their work. In fact, we at SoBellas offer a 1 year, 100% satisfaction guarantee warranty; if the same problem occurs with your appliance that you paid for us to repair, we will return and fix it without any additional charge.

This isn’t to say that doing-it-yourself is bad in any way. In fact, we have a troubleshooting guide here for any do-it-yourself-er’s who want some guidance on certain appliances. Nevertheless, for your own safety, time, and for the quality and state of your appliances, it may be more advantageous to consider seeking professional help instead of doing-it-yourself for certain repairs. So please don’t hesitate to call us or contact us if you have any questions or any problems with your appliances. We are here to keep you safe, save you time, and make you happy!
