Prevent repairs with these common appliance repairs.

It’s one of the unavoidable problems of owning a home – sooner or later, something is going to break down. Whether it’s your refrigerator or your washing machine, when the time comes, it’s going to inconvenience you. While the problem may arise no matter what, there are still some things you can try to do and keep it from happening for as long as possible. Here are 5 appliances that commonly need repairs, and how you can keep them running longer and keep the local appliance repair company out of your house.

  1. Your Washing Machine – If you’ve ever had a washing machine break down, you know how annoying it is. It always breaks down at the worst time – right before you’re going to wash clothes for a job interview, or before you leave on vacation. The best way to prevent your washing machine from breaking down is by following all of the guidelines inside the instruction manual. This means not loading the machine up with too much, only putting things inside that are washing machine safe, and knowing how all of the knobs and buttons work. If you pay closer attention when using your machine, you may find that it goes a little longer without breaking down.
  2. Your Dryer – Sitting right next to your washing machine is likely a dryer, and this needs just as much attention. Don’t put too much inside, and always make sure you clean out the lint trap before starting a new load. Make sure the dryer is level, and that you don’t place heavy items on top. Again, you’ll find lots of information inside the instruction manual, so be sure to read this through before operating the machine.
  3. The Refrigerator – Another appliance that causes a big hassle if it breaks down is the refrigerator. When this happens you suddenly have to figure out which foods are going to go bad, and how quickly you can get the refrigerator repaired before this happens. A simple maintenance trick you can do to improve not only the quality of your refrigerator, but to extend its life, is to clean out the vents around it. Refrigerators needs to pull in air in order to work, but over time these vents can become clogged with dust and other things. Every once in a while, clean away any debris blocking the vents, and your refrigerator will thank you for it.
  4. The Television – As a culture, we’ve all become so accustomed to having our televisions on. We use them to watch sports, get our news, or wind down at the end of the day with a sitcom. You don’t realize how much you watch television until you suddenly can’t. Sure, it’s nice to have a reason to sit and read a book, but before long you’re going to want your TV back. To help your television last longer, turn it off when you’re not using it, ensure the wires are not tangled or bent, and that nothing is blocking the air vents on either the TV or the cable box.
  5. Your Dishwasher – Finally, we have the dishwasher. For many of us, gone are the days of standing over the sink for 30 minutes, scrubbing away at dished, utensils and glasses. Now we just pop them into the dishwasher, and a few hours later they are perfectly clean and ready to use. This is another appliance that we don’t realize how much we rely upon until it’s broken. To keep yours running, always load it based on the instruction manual, use the right dishwasher detergent, and rinse your dishes off before you put them in.

If you can follow the advice above, you may find that your appliances go a little longer without breaking. However, if they do break, be sure to contact us to have them fixed right away with same day service appliance repair. Our appliances play a vital role in our day-to-day lives, and we know you don’t want to be without them for longer than you need to.
